We need new transmission cooler lines, and what I am finding are sets at Mustangs Unlimited, etc, that are for mustang. Do these fit a maverick in the same set up?

    We have a 170 I6 with the C4. We're looking at this set http://www.mustangsunlimited.com/itemdy00.asp?T1=MUT1005+01

    Would this be correct?

    Thanks!

I was trying to find Maverick tranny lines listed on this website(rightstuffdetailing.com). Is it only in their printed catalog? Or just go with the Mustang set? I need them for a 70' Maverick converted to 302. I just got my new radiator and I'm getting ready to hook everything up. I am trying to remember, is there clips to fasten these lines to the frame of the car?

They have the V-8 lines for a Maverick.

They do not attached to the frame at all.

The Maverick parts are listed at the end of the Mustang section. Don't know why, but they are.

They have them. I don't think they have updated their on-line catalog lately.

You can make your own with 5/16" fuel line from the parts store.
The lines come in different lengths so just get one that will fit your application and a good tubing bender.

If I had a 3 dimensional dimensioned drawing I would send it. All I can do is guide you to come out of the fittings to the center between the fittings. Go down from there to the top pan rail and then go toward to the radiator keeping the lines clear of the steering, fan and belts.
Make some rough measurements and go from there. The lines normally run close together and if you don't want to have them rub against each other the put a piece of hose (split) on one of the lines and then tie wrap them together. Do this at several points along the way and where ever you brace them to the engine or transmission.

i just got my tranny cooler lines from Right Stuff Detailing, I never thought about the fact that they were not made with headers in mind! They are right up against them. I'm thinking that cannot be good, what do you guys think??

Bend them away from the headers and if you have an inch between them and the headers after the bend put a heat shield between the headers and your lines.
The heat shield is just a rectangular piece of metal that is mounted to the engine block and hangs between the two parts.
DO NOT INSULATE the metal lines by wrapping them - That will just heat your transmission up.

I think it might be easier to bend my own at this point. Plus I can route them at a safer distance (farther from the headers). I'll sell the other set once I steal some ideas and measurements from them.
My first instinct was to throw a insulated sleeve over them. Glad you mentioned that because believe me the thought was still lingering!

This thread was just what I was looking for. I also couldn't find the lines for my '72 302 in the RightStuffDetailing.com online catalog but I called and they are on the way. Thanks. Jim
