Hi good people , I am new to the Maverick scene but love my 75 already , 75 6 cyl 250 .. Because of the long front end , the fact it was built in Canada and the factory Brown finish , I have named her Moose !!
I need new shocks and would like to know if there are any that can be put on the rear that would raise the rear end 2 or 3 inches ??
I would like its stance to kind of emulate that the MOOSE is grazing and with the Cragers I put on her, it would look nicer, in my opinion if the rear end was a bit higher...
I really dont want to spend alot , so the cheaper ideas would be more prudent in the way I go forward with this..
Thanx Caseman... The Moose Is Loose ...(y)

If the back end is sagging, it probably is the springs, and not the shocks. If you can get the 4 leaf springs from Espo Springs 'n' Things (www.espo.com), it should put you where you want. I have a set of the 3 leaf springs, and the car sets really well, just slightly up in the rear, not a lot. Good luck!

Other than air shocks, don't know. Might try shock extensions, but I wouldn't, as the shock mounts on these cars aren't the strongest.

Not shackles....they will destroy the springs. Hijacker makes some good ones, but they ride hard, be prepared for that.

I just did a search , any pros and cons about lowering the front by takin a coil off the front coil springs ?? This would be a cheap way to go , right ??

Take it to Harry's Spring Service, it's off Hamilton Rd, sorta by by the Mary Browns Fried Chicken. (or just look it up in the phone book)
Crappy Tire use to sell coil over shocks, that would lift the car a bit, but not much.

there is no real bad things about cuting the front springs. just rember that it is easyer to cut more off than to put back on. another option is to use fox body mustang springs (79-93) they fit in our cars. they have alot of choices avaible for them. you can goto the salavge yard and get a set out of a v8 mustang and put them in the car. youll probly end up wanting to cut them. they give you a stiffer spring rate than cuting the maverick ones does, resulting in beter handleing. you can also use lowering springs for the mustang in the front. you can find them used online for cheap.

you can also custom build your rear leafspring pack. get a set of leafs off of any car or truck in the salvage yard. take them appart and take your springs apart. you can then add a leaf or two from the salvage yard sorced ones. get a spring center bolt from a spring store and put them back togther.

I cut 1/2 round out of my 6 cyl. spring . If you cut the spring make sure you cut the pig tail end NOT the flat end DON'T USE A CUTTING TORCH use a cut off wheel.
