i was cruzing my bule maverick around this week. while driving i always am on the lookout for some other "muscle car" to give a beating to (not that i'd street race  haa haa) or give a nice nod to.

well i heard one when i was driving around this week and it perked up my muscle car radar! and low and behold it was another maverick sounding healthy! it was about two cars in front of me. and like any of you would do was to pull up to it as fast as i could. as i approached him the car was in stock trim but it sounded healthy and had duel exaust hanging under the floor boards. as we came up to the light i shouted out the window "nice car and nice to see a another maveirck around!" he asked "what you have in it?"... i told him proudly "well a 302 supercharged, what you got?" he was like "a 460" ...... ok wait a minute..... lets back up here.... i just said i had a supercharged 302 right? so i asked him again "huh.. a 460?" and he said "yeah a 460" i was like damn! as the light turned green nothing happened however i told him he had to pull over for me the see this thing that fit under the hood with no hood scoop!

well low and behold it sure was... it was a 460! a stock 460 but damn... it looked mean! he told me it was his fathers car and he has been working on it for the last 2 or 3 years i think it was. i don't know if the owners on the boards here but never the less i give it a thumbs up! he was supposed to e-mail me pictures so i could show you guys however i hadn't gotten anything yet. anyhow the car had a full rack under it no shock towers... very nice job however the son told me also it cost him about 35k for the conversion!

anyways you never know what you'll see on the road.

i hope he will be able to make it to our mini meet next weekend.

    460 OUCH

I've seen two so far but both have been drag cars. They both had a mustang II front end under them for steering and the shock towers had been removed. Both 460's were pretty much stock and I ask both owners why? The answer were both the same unless they tubed the car it was almost pointless to build the motor to much because you can't get enough meat on to get a good bite and all you would do is spin your slicks. It’s nice to hear of one on the street and you could bet that’s as to be one mean street sleepier.

There's a blue 1979 Granada with a 460 in it in the Houston or Dallas area. I've seen it a couple of times at both the Texas Motorplex and Houston Dragway. He has the motor mounted way back in order to shift weight towards the back. (The rear 1/3-1/4 of the block is where the factory dash would have been). It looks neat!

Maybe I can find a picture or two I've got of it.

I know Fordman has seen it.
