Put the aftermarket powerglide in and another new set of ladder bars and had my first day out in awhile. Felt good!
Car settled in at 10.00s in the quarter 133-134mph. Was so happy I didn't have to fight the car! The glide really settled the ride down and now can work on tuning the car,,,

It was a GOOD day! oh, second round I fell a sleep and trailer I went,,, gonna have to fire driver, started out good with a 026 and a 005 light but,,, you know gotta work that out

Congratulations! What did you switch to the PG from? A C4? Where was it different on the track? better 60's...slower on top end...etc...?

Sounds like a good day. I sould be ready to get mine back on the strip after almost of year..................by June.
When you say "really settled the ride down", do you launch?
I've had a Mike's Transmission Vasco Glide behind the 408 since I bought the car and had it refreshened along with the motor.

Maxx, took out c-4, car was too violent leaving line, didn't want bumper scraping the pavement. Side note, I bent 2 ladder bars but I was using the adjust-a-link ladder bar and at the link is where I was bending them at. Went with solid bar and all seems well so far.

Have not been able to tune car in with the 2-speed, not really even when c-4 was in. I spent all my time working on suspension and trying to tame car down.

Mph is pretty much the same, 133-134mph. 60 foot best I ever had was .130, possible .127 with c-4, glide was at .138. c-4 et best was a 9.71 but end of last year hanging high 9.80s- 9,92.

Coan built this converter and seems about perfect, 5500-5600 stall and hitting traps app 5700

As said, I got some engine tuning yet and may be able to loosen suspension up some now.

Olerodder, Goodleys built the tranny, southern boy with a good reputation, only footbrake on Saturday. Waiting on TNT day for tranny brake launch.

Thanks for the reply, I thought that was what you meant, but wasn't sure.
Your mph of 133/134 is about the same as I did last year when I did a 9.801(although the car is not cert'd to go under 10.0, and neither am I)................although I had drum brakes on all four corners.........I now have disc's.
I have no idea how much hp/tq the old motor made, but we just dyno'd the refreshen'd motor which is about the same, (did make some changes to the collector area of the headers) and pulled 640hp @ 6800 and max of 542lbft @ 5700. So, it will be interesting to see what she does with the refreshen'd motor and new front suspension.
I've got solid ladders as the car hasn't changed much since it raced B/SM in the late 70's and early 80's. I did however put new Global West lower control arms and front struts to free up the front end and will see if I can take of the front control arm limiters. My best 60' is a 1.4 and I'd really like to get a 1.2 or 1.3. I have raced the car with foot brake and transbrake................I prefer the transbrake.............but the car goes straight and hooks good and the front end didn't used to drop until I got off the gas through the traps. I'm running 4:56's with 31x13x15's in the rear.

Thanks Dave! That's the kind of info I was looking for. I still have the C4 in mine right now...but have pretty much decided that if/when it lets go, I'm going to swap in a PG. I footbrake the car now, and it 60's 1.45-1.48. Was just trying to get an idea of how much I may lose or gain realistically with the change...
