How do you access the transmission cooler lines to disconnect them from the tranny. I have one leaking and need to replace it.
My car has a 250/C4 and the exhaust pipe runs right under where the lines attach. I don't see a way to get a wrench on 'em. The leaking line is the the one forward most mounted on the trans. and has a coupling about 4 inches out from the trans. that's where it leaks. I tried tightening that coupling and it only got worse. I'm not sure why its there. Anyone have experience with this lil job? Do I need to drop the pipe or remove the trans crossmember and lower the back of the transmission and if so can i do that without damage to the motor mounts, etc?
    Any help guys?
    Brad

It has a coupling? easiest way, and least professional, get two new couplings and cut off the old one. then coupling in a new peice of tubing where you cut out the old coupling.

i just attached the ones on my 302/c-4. i was putting the engine in so it was easy. the driveshaft was out and the tranny crossmember was out also. and i did it before i put the headers back on. i'd try to remove the exhaust first and if that dosen't work i'd drop the crossmember, then the driveshaft. last would be to loosen the motor mounts and lift the engine a little. the tranny should drop down a little. seems like a whole lot of work just to tighten something. maybe someone has an easier way. (hope so):)
