Has anyone replaced the Shift Shaft Seal on a C4 while the transmission is still in a working car? It looks to me that the 2-3 inches of clearance will not allow me to tap in a new one. I really do not want to drop the tranny just to replace that seal.

I did it with it still in the car. Installed a Trans-go shift kit at the same time, so the valve body was out. I used a nut & bolt with 2 large washers to seat the seal. Kind-of-a homemade redneck press.

Thanks! Love it. Sometimes an obvious solution escapes me! Will do today.
