Ed, it is really important to know what type of racing you are planning to do when you build the cage. Each sanctioning body has their own technical specs that you must adhere to if you want to race their series. For example, an NHRA drag race legal roll cage would not meet the specs for a car that was going to be running in an SCCA road race series. So, what type of racing are you planning on doing? What class and do you have the rule book for that class of racing? The rule books specify what type of material, how thick, attached where and reinforced how. If you are unsure, you can do a search of the forums here for various pre bent roll cage kits that people here have used. Good luck.
