Anyone converted their trans to roller? I've heard about this and really like the idea. If anyone has done it, where did the parts come from, how much did it cost, did you do it or have it done? etc... Thanks in advance.
not sure if this will help you ray. i get a magazine called race pages. it is the magazine of the nat'l mustang race series. i get it for free at the track. there's an ad in there for a fully rollerized super c-4 with trans brake. cost is $1600. it's from TransKing 409-740-0376. maybe they can sell you the parts or point you in the right direction. it says it has needle bearings between all rotating parts. i get the mag so i can mostly read all the ads. 12 issues for $9.95. there #is 1-866-694-3475.
DIY c-4 roller bearing conversion @ fordmuscle.com there is an article that shows detailed machine work involved with the interchange.
Yes, great information from guys/gals that KNOW C4's better than anyone else. heres the link to the great "C4 monster thread" as it's called. http://www.fordmuscle.com/phpBB/viewtopic.php?topic=1626&forum=13&113
I had that done to my C4 in my mustang a while back when it ate my old conveter. not sure where the trans guy got his parts, but it cost me around 800 bucks for the whole job. just a converter change (another 800) and rebuild took me from 11.40's to 11.0's. I think it was worth it. hope this helps
Hey did'nt Fordman (Ivy) do this to his last year or so:confused: he might be a good fella to talk to.
Heres a link www.performanceautomatic.com for all the parts youll need. I went from a nonroller to mightymite fully rollerized and really didnt help that much. But it was money well spent you can forget about the tranny messin up. Might see Ivy this weekend I'll say something to him bout it!
be careful of the term "full roller". Just because it says it ,doesn't mean it truly has roller bearings everywhere. Some tranny companies only replace the thrust washers that wear out the fastest with bearings. My transmission currently has 6 different roller bearings. JPT was the original creator of the "full roller c4" he was putting roller bearings in c4's back in the 70's.
I"m currently having a portion of my c4 rollerized, it will include 7 different roller bearings and will give me a total of approximately15 roller bearings (including the tail shaft, which I just got back) in my transmission. I can take pictures before I re-assemble it if anyone is interested.
if Jenny is near by he might not be able to give you the real price If they are like me and my wife.....take whatever price he gives you and times it by "atleast" 3...........that way she is done the wiser...... Becky: "honey, how much did that part cost?" me: "you mean the super victor intake?" "I guess? that thing that came in the big box the other day" "O, that was only $80 from Sumitt........it would have been a lot more if I had bought it through JEG's" :bananaman
