I'm thinking about replacing the shifter stick on my t5 to look more correct. Has anyone with a t5 been down this road before have any suggestions? http://www.hurst-shifters.com/product-category/?slug=shifter-sticks-service-parts
The Hurst sticks, and most aftermarket sticks, bolt right up. I have a Hurst flat stick and T-handle on mine. First had it on the stock T5 shifter and now on my Steeda. Bought mine from Summit.
I'm looking at this one , but to me the bottom half looks a little too tall before it lays back. http://www.summitracing.com/parts/huu-5387436/overview/ ...or this one. I never really studied how the factory shifter in a manual trans is bent. http://www.summitracing.com/parts/huu-5384106/overview/
Jeff; if you want to lower the stick, do what I did. Measure the distance between the holes on the bottom, and drill another hole above the top hole, and then cut off the I" or so on the bottom. On the top, just run a die down the stick and thread the stick an inch or so down, and cut the top. I got about 21/2" or so doing that and got the stick to be right where I want it. Hope all is well over there, and you guys are keeping busy. Call sometime! Earl! BTW, I used the bottom stick. Get the one that is about 12" long and give yourself some leaway in the 'adjustments'. eb
Just bought this one and it fits perfect(for me) http://www.ebay.com/itm/HURST-53800...r_Truck_Parts_Accessories&hash=item41802ec657
When I picked mine I sat in the car and decided how far I wanted to reach for 1st & 3rd gears and how high I wanted it to be. That pretty much told me where the handle needed to be. Found a stick that hit those dimensions perfectly.
I'm looking at this Mustang lever now. Kind of wanting something that looks more stock that what I have now. http://www.cjponyparts.com/hurst-t5-conversion-shift-lever-1964-1970/p/MSL9/
anyone who has upgraded their 5 speed shifter and has a spare shifter(stock or otherwise) I'd like to consider buying your shifter. thanks Speedy, The transmission I have, I believe to be a stock 6 cylinder mustang T5 tranny minus the shifter. I think it would be better than my 3 speed tranny...
