Need a new tank for my 73 has anyone put one of these in or have a good clean one for a 73 for sale? What is required to fit spectra?

You will need longer strap bolts and newer vapor valve with grommet.

I just finished doing this in a 72 Comet. I used the straps and sending unit from a 75 Maverick. I have the original 72 tank and sending unit, but the tank needs to be vatted.

If I put in the 77 tank should I run the 77 sending unit people sell so it reads level correctly? New vapor valve and grommet? Tank looks the same as my 73 tank just deeper by about 2". Also will my 73 filler neck fit in this tank?

I just wanted to verify before I started buying parts. I just pulled the gas tank off of my 1973 Ford Maverick. It definitely needs to be replaced. I'm just looking for verification that these are the parts that I'm going to need and that everything is going to function properly.

Gas Tank Spectra F30: http://frugalmechanic.com/auto-part...ull#s=bing&m=cpc&c=spectra&t=spif30 fuel tank

The 1976 fuel sending unit: http://www.ebay.com/itm/like/221956884846?item=221956884846&lgeo=1&vectorid=229466&rmvSB=true

    The 1977 vapor valve: http://autokrafters.com/Ford-Maverick-1977_p-2836-fuel-vapor-valve-71-77-maverick-comet.aspx

and the vapor valve grommet: http://autokrafters.com/Ford-Bronco-1984_p-6952-fuel-vapor-valve-grommet-71-77-maverick-comet.aspx

    Thanks.

I do not remember if the tank came with the fuel neck grommet or not. However you may also want to get the gasket for the fuel neck to the tail light panel and the seal that the fuel neck passes through that screws to the trunk floor as well.

I replaced the tank on my 72 Comet with the spectra F30 tank. Used a new grommet and vapor valve. used the longer straps. I have dual exhaust and the tail pipe ran close to the fuel line and sender which is also for the F30 tank. I used header wrap on my pipe on the drivers side. don't know if it was necessary or not just didn't want to take any chances. My Comet has 2 3/4" tail pipes.

I got a used V.V. and grommet from a late model tank ('02Linc. I think)....they are in just about all late model cars.

I replaced the fuel tank in my 73 Maverick. I replaced it with a new tank for a 64-65 Mustang. Had to shorten the straps a bit. The tank does not come with a vent. Other than that, No other issues. It was just a little over $120 from CJ Pony Parts.

I used my own filler neck. The tank came with the sending unit.

One wire to the unit, one ground to the frame. The gauge works fine.

I found the tank and sending unit I installed. CJPony Parts. Part# FSU1 (fuel sending unit) ($32.99). Part #FT2 (16 gal tank w/drain plug) ($100.99). Not a bad deal for both. Hope this was helpful.
