I have a 73 maverick grabber that came with a damaged 302. Some on did not know how to put on rocker arms or something so they broke off a stud in the head. So I took it out and put an 87 high output engine in it. The engine has rolller rockers, roller f-303 cam, weiand intake, mechanical advance msd distributer, and numerous other things. My only problem is that the car is an original points car. So the wiring is set up for points. Well I wanted to use my msd distributer so my dad and I converted the car to electronic ignition. We know the distributer works because we had it on my dad's 84 mustang for awhile and it ran fine. We don't know if the ignition box is bad or what because we have had 2 different ones on there and still it won't fire up. The coil is not getting power too so that is another problem. The car has open exaust so the car sounds normal trying to fire it up but it sounds like it wants to start but needs a little more umph. The car is getting gas so it is not that. Any help will be greatly appreciated. Thanks!!!

Pull a plug wire out of the cap and ground a screw driver and put it close to the cap terminal. See if a spark will jump to the screwdriver. If not, your probably not wired up correctly. If it sparks, then its probably a timing problem.

Try running 12 volts temporarily from the battery to the coil. If everything is right, it should fire. Do not leave it setup this way! Ignition box?? explain please.
