When sitting at the car show a numb nut walks by, ha ha ha ha.... a maverick... ha ha ha......... Like it dont have no business being there. What do yall do?
i probably would have had some smart @$$ come back for him that i would have said to myself but just loud enough so he could have heard it
Heard it all the time in the 70's and 80's. Have not heard it for awhile,, must be Mustang person. Dan
me neither.... but if i heard something like that i know i would have popped off with something like "and which car in the show is your's by chance?:16suspect".... but im very very open minded like that
Just look at him and wonder if he has anything in a way of a drivable car to compare. Probably not and critisizing yours makes him feel better. Just ignor the F#&$!n GOOF. Or if you want ask him what he knows about the mavs, probably squat and just say that in there 1st year they(mavs) sold more than Mustang in there first yr. He will now either walk away or will now talk to you about your car. A win ,win for you.
People like that arent worth the trouble.Or see which car is his (if he has one ) and give him the same while he is sitting by it
most likely a chevy guy...and a bad one at that...a true car guy can appreciate all makes. you took the road less travelled, and for you it made all the difference! your car is one helluva fine ride,...
Ehhhh, they dont really bother me. Just wondering what others did. I get at least 2 or 3 that hold my Grabber in contempt in a big show and at least 1 in others.
Does having the car make you happy or does what everybody else thinks of it make you happy? If it's the former then the only thing you need to do is smile at him and let him pass your Mav to look at another Mustang. More likely than not your lack of reaction will make him realize how ignorant his comment was. If it's the latter then you should probably sell your car and buy a Mustang. I bought my first classic car a few years ago, it is a 65 Mustang coupe V8. It was a rust bucket when I bought it and I've been restoring it for about 4 years now. I belong to the vintage-mustang.com forums and you get the same type of reaction over there about owning a coupe, "it's worthless it's not a fastback." The point is, everything is relative. Then I bought the Comet in January so that I can have something to drive, since the Mustang is taking so long. I love the car and it makes me happy. But I get the same reaction from everybody when I tell them I bought a 71 Comet. They usually laugh and say "why?" The best response I got was from a guy at work, "Really? Weren't those things kind of like pieces of ****?" The point is, if it makes you happy, then the only thing you have to do is smile and nod. Jason
I haven't ever head this either. In fact, this reminds me of a car show I was at where they parked me next to a new Corvette. The Corvette owner literally rolled his eyes when I started backing in. He didn't say a word to me all day. Well, I sat at the back of my car and talked to person after person. People had all kinds of stories about Mavericks - how they used to have one, or their Mom used to have one, or how they "almost" bought a Grabber, and so on. Then they would leave and WALK RIGHT PAST THE NEW CORVETTE. The Corvette owner was NOT happy and left a little early. That proves they don't know what they were talking about. At the time, they were one of the most reliable cars Ford built and sold more than Mustang in numbers.
well, if it was me......I would ask them if they want to race But like others have mentioned, I have never gotten that from a walker-by.
