Has anyone experienced at all with Universal throttle cables? Autozone has some in stock (haven't gotten measurements on mine to know for sure if it will fit) but mine recently broke and i am currently running bailing wire from my pedal half way up the throttle cable. I've been unsure on finding another used one as it is going to be 40 years old as well and no telling how long it will last. I dont want to be stranded for an hour at work waiting for bailing wire again! Any thoughts? Universal cables work good or should i start the search for one that someone has pulled?

1984-1985 Mustang 5.0 carb'd throttle cable fits perfect or a 1980-85 f150 carb'd cable can easily be made to work. Both around $30 new.

The universal cables are fairly poor quailty, i would look at early inline 6 mustangs (79-81) for a throttle cable that should work with few mods on your 6 popper

That's the very reason I keep a used 6 cyl one in my trunk at all times. If mine were to break in Resume Speed, Wherever, I could change it out in a few minutes time. The six one is actually too long for the V8, but in a pinch, I'd use it!
