My wife and I took our 72 Maverick from northern Indiana down to S. Carolina last week. The only problem we had was when we crossed the boarder into s.c. we hit a snow storm. There were cars in the ditch and wrecked 3-4 deep in the median. Those people don't know how to drive in the snow. We passed a salt truck and it was kicking out chunks of salt the size of golf balls. About ten miles later I thought the engine sounded funny and I looked in the rear view mirror to see a cloud of steam. I pulled over in the middle of who knows where. There was a hole in the radiator shooting coolant out through the grill in a tiny stream. Thank god I had thrown a chunk of two part putty in the car, I kneaded up the putty and stuffed it into the hole and dumped water in that I had in the trunk. At one point while working under the hood I stood up and there was a s.c. state trooper standing next to me.......... I said," hey batman", he kinda chuckled and asked if I needed help. He saw I had it under control and said just wanted to make sure you were ok and he left. We made it to the next exit and I bought some bars leak from walmart. The 250 ran smooth the whole way except for 2 lean conditions it hit going over the smokies. Just mild hiccups and had to put my foot in it. All said and done. 773 miles down and 773 miles back and the 1972 Maverick did awsome.
