Both are good intakes. Which one is spec'ed closer to your future driving needs and RPM ranges? I really like my torker289, but never used a Victor.
My next motor is going to be a powerhouse; 30 over, heads, 750 carb, huge roller cam, and one of them intakes, the problem is, THEIR BOTH COOL!, i plan to hit the 6500 rpm range
For what reason(s) is the Victor Jr. winning? What does it have that the torker doesn't have? I have not been able to find the rpm specs, etc. on the internet.
Someone clames "i think the rpm range is like 3500- 7500 or something like that.the carb sits at an angle to help even out lean / rich conditions. some cylinders will run richer /leaner than others, and with the carb on an angle, it helps direct the fuel into the intake runners more evenly...plus it looks cool as hell. " Another clames "RPM range is 1500-6000,"
go with the torker http://www.edelbrock.com/automotive_new/mc/manifolds/ford/torker-289.shtml http://www.edelbrock.com/automotive_new/mc/manifolds/ford/victor-289.shtml
I want more info before deciding. Like is it going to be a stroker? What heads? White size cam? What it's intended use is? There are a lot of other factors to consider. From everything I read, the Torker is a better street intake for milder engines. But, the torker could be restrictive depending on what heads you are going to run. The victor would be a slug on the street unless you have the right converter and gears. I say sell them both and buy a Performer RPM.
you do realize that u looked up the wrong "torker" intake, dont you? he has the older, original Torker intake (not the Torker II). there's a big difference between them and IMO, ive never liked mixing the two designs together (tall deck single plain & low deck dual plane). if u want high rpm power and are willing to sacrafice some low end torwue for it, go with the victor..... but the torker intake hasnt ever impressed me. it's not a tall deck intake, yet is a single plain so it cuts down on off the line torque and cuts off on the big end :16suspect kind of a lose/lose situation in my book... but just my thoughts
That writeup says the victorjr is good at 3500-8000 The torker289 is 2500-6500, if I remember correctly. Might be 3000. The torker289 will wake up sooner than that victor, and be more street friendly. I have run the torker289 on a stock engine, stock with mild/mod cam and gt40p heads, and the current engine, and I have been pleased with it in all 3 configs. Especially now, it is a touch slow off the line with a stock converter, but wakes up very soon after I leave the line and stays awake. I have run it up to 7000 rpms a couple times and it never stopped pulling. I tend to shift at 6000 if I am playing around, or 6500 if I am serious. Also, despite being a lowdeck single plane, the runners are pretty straight. You can see down into each intake hole from looking in the top. None of the flattened runners then turning down like the torker 2 and victor appear to have. But, I have no experience with the Victor jr, so I admit my writeup is a bit one-sided.
sell em both and get this.... polished rpm airgap!!! http://www.summitracing.com/parts/EDL-75214/?image=large
