a well build c4 will work pretty nice.
a build aod will be nicer because you get overdrive and a lock up conveter.

a 4 speed toploader is alot of fun
a t5 is even nicer because of the overdrive.

the fist two trans are autos and second two are manuals. so you need to decide if you want a stick or a auto. if you go with a auto you should get a conveter with a higher stall speed based on the power band of your motor and the gearing of the rear end. if you go with one of the overdrive trannys then you can run a deeper gear in the rear end resulting in even more fun.

If you're going to do any bracket racing, get a c-4. A 4 speed on the street is a lot of fun. T-5 is even funner, I've heard.:)

The C4 is your light-weight choice. It can be built to take in excess of 600 HP.
The AOD is the heavyweight alternative - It is about twice the price to build and there are some week points that need to be addressed above 400 HP. That is when they get real expensive.
