I am thinking they might all vary. I would use some string and tape for refrence points (hood off).

Yeah do it like blugene said. Don't rely in someone elses measurements.

not to mention that the air cleaner assembly/scoop will likely be the deciding factor on where to cut.

IMHO, you would be putting the cart well before the horse to do that mod without having the parts installed already. Without a mockup.. the margin for error would be very slim.

when I had mine I used 2 velocity stacks. Had to remove the back stack to open the hood. To avoid that I would have had to cut almost all the way through the back edge of the hood. The Maverick hood moves forward and up when opening.

There was an article in Car Craft, perhaps a couple years ago.

The gist was to use blue painters tape on the fenders with the hood off, and lay out strings for the boundaries that the opening will need. Mark the tape for where the strings will need to be reattached when you lay the hood in place.

Much easier than how I have done it in the past with lots of measuring.

Just one problem with that. How do you put the hood back on with the tunnel ram in place?

I was thinking to tape the string down across the tr from front and back and both sides. Make a box around the tr and adjust till it looks proportionate. Then measure from all points necessary to make that opening on the hood. If the tr is not already on then put tape on the fenders and cowl crossing over onto the hood so those can be measureing points.

I have some ideas now Thanks guys. I`ve done it before just not on a Maverick. Was just hoping for some starting measurements and pointers
