    On a 73 Maverick -

Brake lights work but turn signals do not. Is this a fuse or a flasher?

    Where IS the flasher located?

the flasher for the turn signals is behind the instrument cluster

How does a normal human being get to it? Can you reach it with just your hand?

Do you have to remove the instrument cluster?

When you put on a turn signal, does the lights light up but not flash? Or do they not light up at all?

Pulling the Insturment cluster is the easyest way to get to it. But the hardest part of pulling the insturment cluster is getting the speedometer cable loose. It can be very frustrateing the first time you try it, but after a couple of times you get the feel for it. You gotta squeez the top just right and it will pop loose.

You gotta lay on the floor board and reach up though the bottom of the dash to get to it (not fun).

The turn signals don't come on at all, not even in the inside of the car.

I remember back in the day on one of my previous Mav's they would come on but not flash and I could at least do the flashing thing manually.

The flasher would be the first thing I'd check. Remember, there are 2 separate flashers for these cars. One for turn signal and the second for emergency flashers. You can easily determine whether its the flasher or another problem. When you get to it, jump the 2 wires together, then turn on either turn signal. If they light, its the flasher. If they still dont then its somewhere else. Power comes from the ignition switch, then directly to the flasher. From there, it loops through the emergency flasher switch, then to the turn signal switch. The only diagrams I have (72) says the turn flasher should have a light blue wire one one side and a black with a light green tracer on the other. The emergency flasher should have a light blue with a white tracer and a white with a red tracer.

My mechanic tested the turn signals today and says it is the turn signal switch. He did not have a replacement switch so I am wondering if any of you know where I can find one for a 1973 V8 Mav?

What kind of labor involved? How much should this cost me?

Autokrafters has them they show NOS Ford for 89.95 or aftermarket 64.95 which I didn't know existed. You might find one on E-bay also.

I just did mine yesterday.. Although I went about it differently. I had the same problem so I separated the circuit and changed my backup lights to turn signals..:rofl2: Hey it works.. I think I need to slow down :drink:
