I installed a pertronix ignitor in the maverick today, and I couldn't be more pleased with the result. The car is idling smoother and has a noticeable improvement in acceleration.

The only problems I'm still having are a popping noise in drive and reverse, and a creaking/grinding noise during hard acceleration. Any thoughts?

Someone suggested u-joints and it might be. Are these hard to change? Estimate on time?

    Thanks,
    Jonathan

Not that hard to change U-joints. Took me about an hour to change out both of mine. Good luck!
