I have a 1973 ford maverick i-6 and i am putting the 302 v8 in it with 88400 headers so i can retain the auto column shift and glass pack exhaust also im just doing true duals. Can you guys tell me weather it would be cheaper to buy the parts and do it myself if so what parts would i need exactly. If it would not be cheaper or maybe just needs certain expensive tools i will just have a shop do it

I would say $100 and up for a shop to do it. You can drive around before you do the swap and get some estimates.

well think that header would have 2 1/2 inch pipe going back am i right?
also what do you think would be the best size glasspack for it?
and would the 84400's fit the auto column shift good

If the 88400 are the shorties...they will fit.

I am not sure what size pipe or glass packs to use. The muffler shop will tell you what fits.

I have 2 different exhausts, my 74 is 2 1/2" Aluminized, it was $450, my 73 has 2 1/4" Stainless Steel, and it was $800. Both were custom made at good exhaust shops.

You should come to the MCCI Roundup Nationals this week. It is being held a stones throw away from Illinois....seriously....Just across the Mississippi river in Hannibal, Missouri. There, you can meet some great people, and get all the answers you ever wanted and ever some answers you didn't want (Ha, Ha). You can also look at cars and check out all kinds of different exhaust systems. You will get a wealth of information. Well worth the trip.

    as far as glasspack length

    -short glasspack 12"-18" = rumble/mellow
-long glasspack 18"+ = snap crackle pop
