I saw these on e-bay ... Never heard of them ... where do ther mount ?? http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=1875341449
No way they are from a Maverick. Looks like the small vent window that goes in front of the door glass on older cars that rotate in for ventilation.
Wind Wings Yep, us oldtimers remember those well. Back when very few cars had AC, the vent windows that opened on each front door, aka Wind Wings, could be rotated so as to catch incoming air and direct on the driver or passenger. I think they were still in use on cars & especially trucks, up until 70's or 80's, in some cases. Anyone remember the round tube that you could buy and hang on the outside window with either cold water or ice in it? Supposed to cool the air and direct into the vehicle, don't think they worked real great? Of course I said the same thing when we got our first TV, a 5in screen, in 1949. I wonder if the eBay item may be the rear seat windows on a 2dr that fold out, sure doesn't look like it from the picture though.
My 96 Bronco has wing windows. I like them and wish they never stopped making them. They can either deflect air away from an open window, or like OG said, rotate them all the way out & they will scoop air into the vehicle. Those ones on Ebay are an aftermarket item that used to be available for cars after detroit decided wing windows should disappear back in the late 60's early 70's
Our van has wind wings thankfully so if it didn't I wouldn't get any air on the drivers side the window will not roll down (damn power windows). Most Ford trucks/vans have em I know alot of old cars do esp Falcons and Galaxies they are highly useful for 2-60 Air Conditioning (2 Wind Wings open - 60 mph) .
Wasent there an old Maverick in the 50’s? seems like I read something like that but anyways maybe from that. it may have been like a dodge Maverick I can’t remember
1952 a guy named Sterling Gladwin made a custom car out of fiberglass and called it a Maverick. They were sold as kits or completed cars. Only 7 were sold.
Couse i seen one online for sale about a year ago when i was looking for mav parts I came across it i knew it was not made by ford may be thats what the wing fits
