What parts would you like to see made available for Mavericks / Comets? I have been working with a couple of fabrication shops lately who are starting to be interested in making parts for Mavs and Comets. The question always comes up as to what parts are always being requested but are hard to get your hands on.

Ideas I have come up with are:

    V8 motor mounts
bar that ties frame rails together below oil pan
Double hump trans cross member for C4, T5, AOD
Steel block off plate for behind the rear seat
Interior plastic panels beside rear seat and door panels
    Bucket seat frames
    Clutch linkage complete
Shock Tower braces that clear Fuelie 5.0
Large tube headers that clear 351 and steering box/linkage
Subframe connectors that also tie both sides together and clear 3" exhaust (similar to TCP 3 piece subframe setup)
    Louvers for rear window

Some of these parts are already being fabbed up for my car. If there is enough interest in these or other ideas, there is a good chance that several of these will be available again as new parts.

Another idea I had was to make up vented fuel filler tubes so we can plug in the nozzle, walk away and know it won't burp 10 gallons of 92 octane all over the lot.

So tell me what parts YOU are interested in seeing.

I'm sure the frame mounts, rear crossmember and clutch linkage would be big sellers.

A front coilover conversion kit would be nice along with dropped spindles.

A lot of that stuff is already being made.

Front coilover conversions are already available from several manufactures. Just select one for a 67-70 mustang. Be ready to have the total weight of your car as well as the front weight available when ordering from Mustangs Plus, Summit, Jegs, etc. Need to get the right spring rates for your application.

Dropped spindles are an idea though. Is this something that anyone else is interested in?

The real problem when making spindles comes with product liabilities. I personnally would be a little nervous about using spindles unless I had long personal knowledge of the company doing the casting / machining or the company had lots of experience manufacturing suspension parts. Thoughts?

One of the companies I work with is a foundry, so this might not be out of the realm of the possible.

I'll second motion the rear seat panels for69-72. I had a hard time finding "nice" ones (lots of cracked, flaking, and chalky ones). Those parts are over 30 years old and plastic technology wasn't the best 30 years ago compared to today.

I think also maybe a weld in repair panel for the battery tray/inner fender and maybe a trick cowl air intake repair panel that could be installed from under the dash.

I know some of those things are being made. The problem I have had is actually being able to get my hands on them. For example, I have had a trans crossmember on order from Auto Krafters twice now. Both times, the order was canceled because they were unable to get them from their supplier.

What I am really looking for are ideas on what is NOT available that there is demand for. Trying to kill two birds with one stone. Help get parts into the supply line and help a parts manufacturer find a niche that needs filling.

If you see things being suggested that are available, a pointer to the source is always appreciated. I don't want to waste time trying to make something that someone else is doing a good job of providing. The market is not so large that I would want to step on others toes.

Same problem I have with my car. I live in Sourthern California where cars are in and out of the junk yard in two weeks or less. One of the local yards wasn't even bothering to put Mavericks and Comets on the Yard. They went straight to the crusher. Several long talks and some well spent cash get them put out at the local Pick Your Part at least for a week or so.

So finding interior parts is next to impossible unless I can find them on the boards or at Auto Krafters.

The battery box panel would require a drop press and a die to form a panel that looks even close to stock. Stock replacement is the goal, correct? Does anyone here know if these panels the same across all years?

The Cowl repair panel would be a real challenge from the underside. I see quite a few technical issues with getting the rust from above adequately removed / nuetralised.
Seems this would be a serious challenge. Also, there are places that you would have a hard time getting a welding gun into. It might be possible to do this using some of those automotive adhesives that they are using nowdays to glue a patch in place after cutting out a set area. Still seems to me it would be worth the time to do it the old fashioned way to be sure you have gotten all the cancer out. Drivers side would be almost impossible without doing a complete tear down anyway.

Grills, headlight rings, bright hood & decklid trim and other trim, door skins, door panels, upholstery sets, front and rear valence-in metal.

    That would have helped.

Replacement floor panels and inner and outer wheel houses for the quarter panels, trunk floors, OEM type steering wheels, the chrome trim behind the quarter windows, center consols and pretty much every piece of chrome trim for the outside of the car.

I have an NOS battery panel that I would lend out for a pattern if they needed one to reproduce them. Lower quarter panels. They already make the whole quarter panel, why cant they just stamp out the bottom part under the side marker light? Light and wiper knobs. Heater bezels.

Any parts needed for the small bumper swap, such as brackets, stone shield, etc.
