what size fan

    1972 mav 302. someone put a 18" flex fan on it with no shroud and it runs hot. i have proper shroud now but won't fit with fan. what size fan came on it and what options do i have. thanks jack

    The flex fan should keep it cool if everything else is working. Some things to check before swapping the fan: Radiator clogged, lower radiator hose collapsing, timing, air/fuel ratio, bad head gasket (or install backwards). A shroud only helps and is not a miracle worker

    Two 1973 LDO Mavericks (one 4 Drag one 4 driving like Mad on the roads :) ) also have a 75 6cyl Stock! Ok, well sort of Stock :P
    try cutting the bottom of the shroud and move it up a bit. or just go get a 16 incher flex fan that as many blades as you can. ;)

    17 9/16" 4 blade fan or 17 1/2" 5 blade fan if it has A/C.

    I run an electric fan off a '93 Taurus on my '72. I love it, I'd never go back to a belt driven fan. You have to upgrade the alternator at the same time, though.
