What wheels off of other cars will fit on a 5 lug maverick? The bolt pattern is 5 on 4 1/2 correct? Thanks Jon
i'm fairly certain that late model sn95 mustang wheels will fit with spacers. I almost put a set on. Can anyone confirm if late model bullit style mustang wheels will fit? (hopefully I'm not stealing your thread, I was just thinking this today)
The SN95 GT wheels need about a 2-3 inch spacer to work, which is a little to much IMO. I think the 95 GT wheels on a slightly lowered small bumpered Mav would look awesome.
don't 95 wheels count as sn95 wheels? (94-04) which ones work, which ones require more spacers, why are they bad?
A 2 to 3 inch spacer seems as if it would be pretty risky to use. I believe spacers over a half inch are illegal here in PA I was told that Ranger wheels will work, but I dunno. I'm looking to find something from the junk yard.
Yea, a 95 GT is a SN95 body style. I've never tried any other Mustang wheels besides the 95 GT wheels, but I believe the wheels off a 6 cyl Mustang would work without spacers. I don't think they look as good as the GT wheels though. Here is a pic of our '74 Grabber with the 95 GT wheel on the front. Most people don't seem to like it, but with small bumpers I think it would look pretty cool. I just can't seem to figgure out a way to make it work without using huge spacers. http://mmb.maverick.to/attachment.php?attachmentid=9898
Is there any way to redesign the front end, (bolt on suspension from another ford) to change the width so we don't need spacers? am I making sense? I was at a ford show recently, and saw gobs and gobs of early 60's stangs all with late model bullit sn95 wheels. What are they doing, is their suspension different?
They probably use those bolt on adapters that cost alot more and are thicker. They bolt to the lugs and have lugs in them for the wheels. Can also change the bolt patter with them if needed.
I'd like to learn more about this too, I saw a nice one in the picture gallery here with Cobra R wheels on it, saw one on ebay with the same set up....I'd like to do this with mine using the Bullitt Americans, but unsafe wheel spacers don't sound like a smart idea. A longer length Rear and a Mustang II front suspension set up might make work without spacers, but that's a steep price and alot of modifying to fit a set of wheels. Are the "double-lug" spacers where one set of lugs hold on the spacer while the outer lugs bolt on the wheel safer?
I don't know much about them other than you can buy them, and Tom Hackmann used to (may still) have some on the front of Tammy's car. A quick google search turned up lots of websites selling them, here's one: http://www.wheeladapter.com/wheel_adapters_and_wheel_spacers.asp Also, I discovered that Summit carries spacers from Trans-dapt for $40 a pair. A little cheaper than I remember seeing them. As to the question of are they safe: I'd like to know myself, I haven't seen anything about safety on the pages I've found so far. Billet aluminum is pretty tough stuff. I guess it's at least as strong as the hub on your aluminum wheels anyway, so I'd think it's just as safe?
All rangers,'94-up mustangs(w/spacers)any AMC cars, any old Mopars, toyota 2wd trucks,Mitsubishi Conquest, and the newer jeeps & wagoneers.can't think of anymore offhand.Just be careful of the hub center dia.,some of those won't fit the '74-up cars.
Thanks for the links Matt, I'll look into the adapters. It'll be awhile before I'm far enough along on my project for the final wheel set-up. In the meantime, I'm going to use a set of Dodge police rally wheels to roll it around on (going to pull and store the steelies with the ET drags to keep the slicks from dry-rotting)
