Please reconsider. There is a local Maverick arount here and the dunce had the nerve to put 20" wire wheels on it........... Damn Fugly!
Hey Ives,,, Be me I would get your car a little more settled before the wheels! Been waiting for a call and we can look at how things are going.
When you go to much larger diameter rims, the first thing you will notice is a severe lack of brakes. The rim weighs a lot more than the same space taken up by tire even if you are talking the same overall diameter. Any increase in unsprung weight also has an adverse effect on acceleration and suspension control. You will need stiffer shock absorbers.
i think they are goofy looking too but... he has a maverick and we live in the usa its his right to do that to his car besides isn't the mav the basterd child of ford? just my opp
you are right it is car and the Maverick is the bastard child of Ford so why Bastardize it any further with pimp mobile rims.... LOL JMHO
if he wants to make it look like a "donk"thats he's right. look at me i'm going to make a nose high gasser out of a 71 comet (gotta love this hobby)
20's will beat the crap out of your allready 30+ year old suspension,If they even clear the wheel wells and fender/quarter lips.Your brakes will be lousey as stated here by captain comet due to the weight and the increased leverage the rims will have over the brakes.Mav/comet brakes(4 whl drums)are barely adequate as it is.Looks wise, hey its your car/your money/do what you want.We are just tryin to help you avoid the pitfalls.Take the advice and the little digs in stride,We wont disown you...yet.
