Hey Preston I don't think I have ever talked to you but I was on another site and read an article about putting disc brakes on the rear, he used the rear end out of a 1977-1980 Lincoln Versailles. This rear end with some very minor mod will bolt right in a Mav. I don't know how hard they are to find but I am considering do this swap, you get the strength of the 9 inch and disc brakes :D Here is a link to his site check it out he has some pretty interesting stuff on there

Here is a link to his Tech info.

The easiest swap would be to use a lincoln versallas rear ... Also some granadas and monarchs had 4 wheel discs ... Problem is there hard to find ... Theres a slight difference in width i think the lincoln rear is like an inch wider but its an otherwise direct bolt in swap ...
