I need to replace the switch for my windsheild wipers but am not sure how to go about doing it. I have a 1970 Maverick that came with a stock straight 6 200 and A/C capability (It has the fan and everything just no compressor). I really have no clue on how to take the switch out and any input would be helpful.

You have to remove the knob first. There is a spring clip that if you look carefully at the back of the knob where the shaft goes into it, you will see a metal piece hanging out. Take a small screw driver and push that piece of metal towards the base of the knob. Keep pushing and the knob will push right off the shaft. Then you will see what looks like cross hairs on the metal bezel. This is actually a nut. If the shaft wasent there, you could take a straight slot screw driver and remove it easily. I use a pair of needle nose plyers to straddle the shaft and unscrew that bezel. Now you need acces to the backside. Probably the easiest is to remove the lower dash and come up from the bottom to get the switch out. The wires are on a plug that just pulls off.
