Hello, My name is Lucas and my 1974 Maverick 4dr inline 6 is green! I have a few problems with the car. I have been putting up with them for a while and since the weather is warm now I need to get them fixed.

My biggest problem is my car won't start with the key. Turn the key to the 'on' position and jump the sellinod and it works like a charm.

I have already replaced the sellinod and the ignition mod. I know one of the wire on the sellinod has a short. It always throws 5v at the sellinod and if I leave it hooked up will eventually drain the battery.

I read a fix in a message a few months back that involved replacing the wire. I want to avoid that if that is possible. If anyone has any ideas I would love to hear them.

Buy yourself a cheap test light available at any auto parts store. Remove the wire off the small terminal next to the battery terminal. When the key is in the start position, there should be 12v on that wire. If there isnt, the problem is probably due to the neutral safty switch missadjusted or defective. Another possibility is the start switch itself.
