on 12-29 i asked about removing the export brace on my race only maverick. most said not to. fred h posted about a brace made by mpghead. i ordered the brace. the parts on the shock towers fit right on. as for the cowl part the inner bolts lined right up and i just drilled two new holes for the outer bolts. i did have to bend the lip on the cowl a little bit. the tubes for the brace had to be trimmed 3/4 inch at each end. the only problem i had was that the fitting that had the left hand thread would not screw all the way in ( i had no extra room). what took so long to finish is that i had to find a 3/8-24 left hand tap to run the threads the rest of the way. i had to order one and it just came, about $10. took about 15 minutes to finish. looks good. i'd recommend it if anyone wants to be able to remove the braces, but measure carefully as you can't take more than 3/4 inch off each end as the tube balloons out and you'll lose the threads. thanks for all the help guys
