:=Can enyone tell me if all Mav rear ends are 2" longer to the right of the diff. like the 72 Comet rear I have? and which maverics/comets came with 5 lug axels. Thanks,

...All of your previous questions have been answered correctly.
...All the 8" rears in the Comet and Mav (71-77) have the 43" spring pads and the 56.5 spacing. Most all are 5 lug with some exceptions. Most of the cars with the V8 have 5 lug rears.
...The offset in the tube lengths are due to the pinion gear running on the 'side' of the ring gear, in order for the drive shaft to be centered in the car, the housing needs to provide some offset to account for this fact.
... Also the 8" rears have 10" drum brakes as opposed to 9" for the 7.5" rear, 4 lug type.

The problem is, after I put the 72 Comet rear end in my 63 Ranchero the Left side clears the inside fender just finer but the right side is rubbing the fender and thats with the deepest inset wheels I could find. The leaf spring pads line up perfectly but I'm screwed because the axel is not symetrical. I guess the leaf spring in a Meveric are offset- that seems strange to me.
