I have converted my 77 to a factory air system by swapping in everything from another car. The 2 major problems with this swap are, it is a major undertaking including removing the windshield, and parts that normally wear out or break are hard to find or dont exist. The major components that should be replaced and are impossible to find are condensors, dryers, and the dash mounted vacuum switch for factory setups. All hoses can be made & O rings are available. Keep R12 in the system. Although it is real expensive, it will work much better than R134a. If your goal is to get the factory look, then this is the only way to go. Try to find a complete working system before you start. If you just want an air in your car, I would find an aftermarket system. The aftermarkey system are designed to use R134a.
