what is your best guess why my engine basically dies at 5800 rpm's. i have a built cleveland in a 71 grabber. bored .040 over, balanced, forged pistons, electronic ignition, torker intake, bigs performance 850 dbl. pumper, 4.11 rear. lunati cam with 224/234 @ .050 536/566 lift. i don't know if i'm running out of fuel or what but when i run the car.....i could hold it in low and it will basically hold at 5900 rpm's. i think it should run to 6500-7000 no problem. i have a stock carter mechanical fuel pump and i'm wondering if i should go to a high performance electric or mechanical. any other ideas out there. post here or email. thanks for any advice, David Change the fuel pump to electric, get a regulator set it for 5 lbs to start. Try dropping about 4 jet sizes in all 4 corners. 850 double is a lot of carb for a 351. See if you know anyone with a 650 or 750 and try that also. Do you have a stock distributor? They suck and most won't go past 6000 rpm at all. Hope this helps!
