I changed back to carb, but I will probably change it to fuel injection in a few years. I just want to get it running and finished soon! Basically the only thing I had to change were the exhaust crossover passages in the back of the heads. I capped these because changing back to carb eliminates the need for them (smog pump stuff). The headers are on it, but I put them in after the engine and transmission (as an assembly) were put in. There were no real problems. I am using Hedman #88-400 (shortys) and they work great. Since my car is now power brake equipped, I had to install the drivers header from the bottom. For this I had to temporarily move the shift linkage out. The passenger's just drops in from the top. I decided to change to floor shift because the pivot point for the linkage sold by Total Performance is $80 and I would rather have it on the floor. Shock tower clearance is no problem using the shortys and they fit perfectly even though designed for Falcons and some Mustangs. Hope this helps. Any more questions don't hesitate to ask!

Great to hear things are going your way!

I'm also about to a 1990 5.0 in a Maverick ('70). I'm trying to stay E.F.I. Are you staying with the 5.0's fuel injection or are you going to carb? What did you have to change (either way)?

I'm assuming you didn't put the headers on when you put the engine in (I've been advised to do so as it makes the header installation much easier). Did you cut out the shock towers for clearance?

One more question then I'll leave you alone. Have you put the C4 in yet? As I understand it, it is MUCH easier to install the headers with the tranny out.

Your feedback is appreciated.

Keep us posted on the progress and good luck,

Rick
