As I was disentigrating the aftermarket and over-coated Z-bar from the front side of the radiator mounting plate (on passenger’s side), I came across something – something I needed!! Some sort of I.D. tag!

When I bought the Maverick, the only info I had on it was on the title (VIN # 0X91T398474). No info on the inside of a door or anywhere. I’ve been a little disappointed all along not knowing exactly what my Mav was (sorry, "IS"). I’ve sorta been having an identity crisis vicariously through the Maverick! (DAD did come by and note that more than likely it was ‘probably’ a Maverick Grabber painted ‘Grabber Green’ maybe possibly, but still no tangible proof).

So, I was glad to see the tag – but NOT so glad to see what shape it was in. After carefully scratching three or four layers of paint, primer, paint, primer, bug guts, and undercoating off, I was able to make out the information on the tag (the Maverick was trying to tell me something! Is Little Timmy stuck in the well? What" You want me to buy ‘Enron’ stock?).

Back to the tag. Good news, right? Well, I went to the site that has the VIN ‘and stuff’ decoder but the illustration on the site doesn’t match what I have. The arrangement of info isn’t close (as far as my 45 y/o eyes can see).

So, I am STILL having an identity crisis (by proxy).

Bottom line, I’m asking you guys, “What in the Wild World of Sports” do I have? (Blazing Saddles ref)

Referring to the numbers shown in the picture, I know that T398474 coincides with ‘some’ of the numbers in the VIN, but the others? I don’t know which end to scratch (pun).

Does anyone know what ALL the alphanumeric numbers mean (okay, how about ‘most’ of the numbers, some?)?
