Ok, these stock 302 engines have around 180hp i am geussing from doing some looking up, and here is what I have been pondering.
I purchased a 600cfm edelbrock carb, and a performer intake for the 302, and im hoping it will give me around 20hp increase (boost too 200hp). I did a little bit more studying, and I think if I stick some newer lower end performance PISTONS in it, i can get around 40hp boost. .............................. Chris K.: If your referring to the 71-77 302 engine, they donnot have that level of power. The average is less than 140. Basicly, the compression needs to be raised to around to 9.5, head airflow improved, a cam to allow better breathing, headers and 4 barrel intake to get upwards of 250+ in power. Ultimately it will depend a lot on the cam and it's rpm band, on the peak power obtained with the rest of the setup. What else will give me some boost, preferably bolt on things (pistons not bolt on ;( ) I don't have facilities nor knowledge to do extensive work yet, but i want around 240-250hp in this thing without coughing a arm and leg. |
