The leaf spring mounting is the same width for all Mavericks as well as all 1965-1970 Mustangs. The axle width is the difference. I believe a 69 rearend will be wider, although it might not be too much of an issue. 9" Mustang rearends are very rare, so good luck finding one. Just thought I would let you know so you can broaden your search to the 65-70 model years.
Ok, I'm back. With more ?'s -- I can't seem to find a rear axle/brake combination to fit my '70 Mav - bolt pattern on the backing plate doesn't match up, among other problems. So, now I've heard that complete '69 Stang 9" rear ends will fit, and have the added benefit of posi. Any truth to this? Any clue where to find one? I called the local used Stang parts yard, (Johnson's Mustang and Truck in Chesapeake, VA) - the guy there told me that 9" rear ends are rare in '69 Stangs, and he'd sell me an 8" for $250. I politely declined.
So, any help? Thanks guys! (and gals!)
