Like Mavman said, try the grease trick first. It usually works well. If you don't have any luck there, I have taken a bolt before that was large enough to screw into the brass pilot bearing making it's own threads. Once it bottoms out you can keep screwing it in and it will force the bearing out...but you do ruin the pilot bearing this way. In your case that doesn't matter. Both of these tricks should work.

Does the pilet bearing have to come out for a conversion from a 170 3 speed to a auto from a 72 mav? If so how the hell do i get hte dam thing out!?
