You obviously have a lot to be proud of with those times. I'm really interested in the 60' times though. What kind of traction device are you using? I have the stock V8 engine crossmember and slapper bars and I have trouble breaking the 2.0 barrier with BFG drag radials. I know a lot has to do with the stickshift, but any info on your suspension setup is appreciated! I'm looking into some Cal-Tracs.

Being from the ancient era of drag racing I like to improvise and mfg. With a little new technology from my son we seem to somehow put a fairly good pkg. together. First of all on the Maverick we made a set of Cal-Trac's from 1 inch blk iron pipe, hiems ends and steel plate from the scrap yard. Being a machinest for 40 years and backyard mechanic too, I have tools and such to accomplish a lot more than some. Shortened up a 9in housing and used 8in axles. Set pinion angle at 2deg. We use good stock rear shocks and 6cyl rear springs. MT 28x10 1/2x15 slicks on 9in wide centerline wheels with 3.5 backspacing. Rear gear was 4.86 with 302 but had to chg. to 4.56 with the 351 because it was turning 7200 at 1000ft. The 302 was ok with it but now the long rod 351 is 6600 with 4.56, just playing it safe. Use a 4800 stall converter on the powerglide. Have a trans brake but have'nt used it(illegal in our class). On the Fairmont we installed a complete leaf spring suspension from a parts car Mav, 8in with slap bars and 4.62 gear. 28x9 MT's with C4 and 4200 stall. Could not use Cal-Trac's because of the way we had to mount front spring eye incorporated into rear roll bar mounting brackets etc. These are strictly drag cars only but I think the Cal-Trac bars are the best thing going. A lot of adjustments for pre load etc. for street or strip. Were supposed to race today but it's 16deg here in Arkansas so will stay home and clean the shop(never ending battle). Hope this info helps and always glad to be of some assistance.
