I read in a car magazine about a trick way to remove it and when I tried it years later IT worked! You take an old type bottle opener(wal mart or grocery store should have`em in the kitchen gadget Isle.) I mean the ones with a pointed end for opening juice cans ,and a rounded end for opening old type Coke bottles. Put some duct tape on the rounded end of the opener for "cushion" . Now use the opener to gently pry the chrome off. It worked great for me! If any of you dont understand exactly what Im talking about you can e-mail me and I `ll take ,and send you a picture of the tool being used.
