I had exactly the same problem, with exactly the same carb. IT's a 4160, 600cfm electric choke model, with fuel crossover tube from the pri. bowl to the sec. bowl. I ended up drilling out the pvcr's (power valve channel restrictions). They were too small, causing a lean condition when the carb went from idle-to-main circuit. Thats what the powervalve does, it provides that little extra fuel during the transition, and when the channels are too small, it acts like it's running very lean. These channels are in the metering block and intersect right at the powervalve. I would reccomend buying one of the numerous holley tuning manuals, as they helped me immensly. In my case, after I drilled the restrictions out too far, I drilled and tapped them for a mikuni atv carburetor pilot jet, that way I can get any size I want. I would, though, check for any other vacuum leak...you said you have oil in the intake? Check the pcv valve, sometimes they will go bad, or its possible you have a "bad" new one. They're cheap enough to just get a new one. On my street mav, I had a vacuum leak right through then engine, when the pcv valve was open and it was pulling air directly through the other valve cover which had a vented filler cap, effectively causing a large vacuum leak. I put a standard non-vented cap on it, and it's fixed. Again, check the float level, check for water, and check the dist. connections first, they're much easier. Hope this helps
