I'm building a 351M as we speak. It's got a 400 crank and pistons (now a 408), stainless valves, good springs, retainers, ect... Compcams 268AH (226-228 duration @.050, .531 lift), Weiand Action + intake, decked, milled heads, 9.5 compression,
1 7/8 headers, 2.5 inch exhaust, and a little headwork. I COULD have build a 460 for it (I have 2 right now) but decided to do the 400 instead to see what happens. Less weight on the front of my 4x4 and plenty of torque. Should pull my racecar OK too.
It's funny everybody slags these engines but think the Clevelands are great. Guess nobody has seen nothing but stock 351M/400s. They wake up as easy as anything else with a few choice parts.
