Sounds kind of like the pump or possibly the weights on the flex plate are contacting the shim plate.

It literally won't idle in gear without some sort of stall. 2000-2500 will actually make it much more drivable.

E85 would get you where you want to be. It's 105 octane out of the pump at 85%.
I have poly bushings in mine. Their noisy and I'm contemplating changing to cheap parts store rubber. Their more rigid than oem but will be quieter.
