    Hey all:

I have a 77 maverick 4 door that left the factory with a 250 straight six, and this weekend I will be buying a 302 v8 out of a 74 mustang for a transplant. so far I need to buy a distributor, a flywheel(unless the one from the I6 will work) and a new radiator as mine currently has a hole in it, and I'm not sure it would be big enough anyway. my questions are, which parts can I bring over to the "new" engine, and what general advice can you give? I'm not the most knowledgeable about this stuff, so anything is helpful(parts to buy, things to watch out for, what won't work, etc.) thanks!

A '74 Mustang never had a 302 from factory, it's the only year the Stang did not have a V8 option... Assuming the engine is earlier than '81 you need a 157 tooth, 28 oz imbalance flexplate for a small bellhousing C4... The 250 flex would fit but you'll have a giant paint shaker as the 250 flex is neutral balanced...

In good condition the 250 radiator would be OK but needing work I'd get a fresh one... I bought the Murray in mine from O'Reilly's...

Sorry, I over simplified. Its a 74 302 that was in a mustang at one point. I guess the car got scrapped and the engine stayed in a garage for a while. But thank you!
