the ecu for the engine/trans is the eec-V so i am going to use a tweecar r/t to program the engine and trans.

well hey guys i have a c4 ans headman 88400 headers and the auto shift linkage doesnt fit the v8. so what do i have to do. because i thought with shorty headers i could keep the mechanical shift linkage. are i-6 different than v8s.

You can convert a v8 column linkage to a single down rod to the trans from the column pivot and it works flawless you completely eliminate the bell crank pivot did it to my 72 Comet. Lokar makes a kit to do it very easy if you have some fabricating skills now working on a ratcheting column based shifter with all factory appearances!!!!!!

I'm in a similar boat- I think the linkage was missing when I got my car but I definately want to keep the column shift, is it easy to convert to cable? I can do most things myself no probs, but never worked on an auto before! I also want some decent headers which I gather dont fit with rigid linkages.

    Yes....the linkage is different from a 6 cyl to a V-8.

I doubt the LTD stuff will work.
