The setup is:

The combo is a 310 c.i. Dart block, TFS Track Heat heads by Total Engine Airflow, solid roller, Vortech YSi blower, A2W intercooler, Powerglide trans, 8.8 rear, M/T Radial, Cal Tracs, AFCO dble. adjustable shock, AJE front suspension, 25.5 Moly cage.

Thats a pretty sweet setup... seems kinda similar to what im in the process of trying to build right now....what type of boost are you putting out with the vortech?

I think we're aiming to get 25-30 psi, need that much to make power with a small motor. The static compression is around 10.8:1!

Last year we covered a 632 BBC on the unit that made 1,222 hp I want to see If I can beat that number with a small-block with the right parts.

 

Wow do u actually have quarter mile numbers?? My set up should be similar to yours i got a dart block on the way along with a stroker kit and then a d1-x procharger which i believe will be similar to your vortech, but i am just in the begining phases of the build

 

Not with this engine, I went some 6.20s to the 8th last year with my nitrous motor, but I too am just in the beginning phases of the build. In fact, I'm on my way right now to pick up the rotating assembly & block from the machinist in a few minutes.

I feel fairly confident in the power output of this combination, simply because it's a copy of an NMRA EFI/Renegade engine (which typically make 1,100 hp with no intercooler, YSi, ribbed belt, crappy intake, and hydraulic roller cam. Because of class rules, of course. They run 8.50s in the quarter at 3,200 lbs). Mine will have the IC, solid roller, better intake, cog drive, etc. Having the 7531 MSD box, and a data logger, wheelie bars, Powerglide, and some great tuners behind this project. The car, as all Maverick owners know, can get really, really light so it will be interesting to see what it will run at, I'm guessing, 2,600 lbs. with me in it.

I'm taking it slow though. I will have a 650 hp tune, 800 hp tune, and hp 1,000 tune so I can get used to the car in stages.

sounds awesome this is my first time with going efi it will be interesting to compare results and progress.....what intake are you going to run?

This is the intake I'm running, a Trick Flow R-Series. The Nova you see in the background is a fiberglass front end, LS1 swap car. It's a project for one of the guys at Vaca Performance in Downey, out here in SoCal. They've got all kinds of cool cars there, mine's there because I'm writing an article on swapping on an AJE tubular front end.



Here are some updates. Do you think I should pain the screws holding the trim ring in place too?

 

Some new Pics. The windows will be tinted to hide the cage. I may go with a darker red, but these pics are of when it's still drying.
