Vomet Comet, you can bet that it will be lowered and in the end it will probably be tastefully done and I am willing to bet that the car will be accepted by our community. Its not the cars that they turn out that is bad with the show its the drama that sucks and there deadlines.

Exactly, typical reality show that follows the format to at t. That's what I like about Chasing Classic Cars and Bitchin Rides, minimal drama and BS.

The hood actually turned out pretty good, they made me nervous when they started on it.

Bitchin rides is a pretty good show. I drive past their shop all the time.

I think it's a nice car, but if they did a few tiny little things, it would have brought it up to the next level:
    • ditch the GT stripes altogether.
    • paint the Grabber scoops body colour
    • use the proper small bumper quarter extensions, or even better, Grabber rear spoiler/extensions
    • use the proper Comet front bumper instead of the Maverick bumper... duh!
I like how they kept the interior basically stock and clean looking. I was surprised that they even kept the stock steering wheel. I just think for $600 more, they could have had a MUCH nicer looking finished product. It's still good to see one of these cars get some attention. As you can propably guess, the 6-cyl part of the build doesn't bother me at all. I really like the shade of green they used and how clean the car looks in that colour.

I agree that Maverick bumper does not work; a total distraction!!!!!!!!

COMET .. Just got a look at the Gas Monkey Comet.
Nothing new here ... There are some beautifully finished cars on THIS FORUM that would be quite at home with
"their" Comet .. What did they do to the Engine ? .. any details on the drive train ? They could have saved a lot of
time by just checking out the rides here first .

Check out how much info is wrong and missing about mercury comets in general. I will admit it is a good looking car. I watched the whole episode. Really haven't been watching the show the last couple of seasons. I'm glad they kept the comet front other than the bumper. While I was watching it I was wondering why don't they just get a small bumper for a comet.

Based on what Grease Monkey wrote in the Build section of their column. they don't even realize they have a Maverick bumper on the car!

I'd wager they couldn't FIND a Comet front bumper .. They're getting scarce .. and more difficult to locate.
I went through the aggravation of ' seeking ' a Comet front bumper for months before I was successful .

When I was looking for small bumpers I found n Comet at a local wrecker a year or so back with both small bumpers. I took the(kinda beat up) rear one for my Mav, but didn't think to take the front because a Comet front bumper would look silly on a Maverick. Had I known they were becoming scarce I would've taken it as well.
