hi all,i'll soon be running a 79 302,bored 40 over,e7te heads with a recent valve job,(stock springs)pete jackson gear drive,edel.performer intake,and a edel.1406 600 carb,trw cast alum.pistons(flat top),c-4 w/a shift kit b&m 2300 stall.crank,rods,etc.will remain stock(for now)i need help with cam info.i came across one that states: melling p/n 24203 duration at.050 int.214 exh.224.advertised duration:int.290,exh.300.valve lift,int.472 exh 496.center lobe int.107 exh.117.classII fair idle,good low to midrange torque.power range:1700-5200. will this be a decent cam for what i will be using?car will be used more for cruising than anything,maybe a trip down the track for fun.looking for a good rumpity rump cam that won't kill the stock springs,and total drivability.any help or suggestions,brands or specs is highly appreciated.drive safe,chuck.
Why not get the Performer + cam that matches the intake? Just so happens I'm taking mine out this week, got new heads, cam, intake. I'll sell it to you for $20 + shipping if you want to try it. You can even have the lifters, I have them marked as to which cam lobe they each mate to and wouldn't need broken in, although it might be better buying new ones from Summit for $40.
I used that exact grind on a very similar combo and it worked very well. The idle isnt going to be very rough and its driveability was good. excelent cam!!
