What works best for installing the thermostat housing on a 302? I'm looking for sealant, gasket suggestions! Yes mine leaks after swapping out my intake before I even started it!!!
I use regular gasket cement on t-stat and water pumps. Old school - I guess. Has worked for me, over many years.
The thing I've found to work the best is the Mr. Gasket O ring that sits inside the thermostat housing. As long as you seat it right it and tighten it enough it will seal and not leak. No rtv, no sealant required.
The peal and stick style thermostat gaskets make the install easier on a ford(vertical thermostat orientation).
I've used the permatex high tack gasket sealent and never had an issue. I used that #2 crap on an intake gasket and it never cured and leaked.
