Thanks Craig, I googled them, auto zone sells both type.

Thanks a lot Dave. I have to keep moving a fast past pace. I have a lot of special order work that will be ready in the next couple weeks. Im going to get slammed soon so I have to get this rapped up.

I didnt get everthing finished today. Had to run out for a couple hours and would have almost made it. All thats left to do is hook up the trans cooling lines and the radiator hoses. I tried to install my nearly new hoses from the 200 but they dont fit the water pump or t stat housing. I picked up a new upper hose but the lower wont be in until the first.

Im as finished as I can be right now. Just need the lower rad hose and its ready to fire. Installing the new upper radiator hose I realized a new problem I have. My radiator isn't going to work. The hoses on the 250 are larger in diameter and won't fit my current radiator. I cut a small piece of the old hose to fill in on the upper hose. I'm not sure I have the room to do that on the lower. I'm also concerned that there won't be enough flow for the larger engine. I can't afford a new radiator for a couple weeks, so I will make this work for now.

It was eating at me to turn the key, so I did a little pre-start up checking. I have my alt warning light like I used to, the cd changer loaded as soon as I connected the ground on the battery. I have brake lights, blinkers and parking lights, couldn't check the headlights because the fenders are off. I bumped the starter and that worked also. My radio doesn't work and neither does my right side interior neon. :hmmm: I checked the voltage at the coil because I rewired a lot of stuff including the ignition. I'm only getting about 6 volts at my coil. That doesn't seem right to me, I will go out later and nose around under the dash and make sure I got everything right. Oh, when I checked my coil voltage, I put my meter on the positive and negative sides of the coil. Is that right?

Here are pics of the engine all put back together.

Ta daaaa..... fixed the ignition, I have battery voltage at the coil now. Got my radio working as well. Cleaned the garage and the car. Gonna be a long 3 days waiting on that hose!

Finished work around 2 and rushed to the parts store to get my radiator hose. Came home and put it on. I had to fill in around the radiator outlet like I did with the upper hose. Hooked up my timing light and tach meter then started going over everything while I waited for my Wife to get home. I was just about to chill for a bit when I noticed oil on the back corner of the valve cover. CRAP! I was worried about that, I had a hard time getting it off my old motor and was afraid I warped it. The Wife pulled up all excited to help and I told her not today. I have another valve cover but it has some goofy bracket on the side and thats why I didnt use it. So I pulled the bad cover and began stripping the replacement and prepping for paint. I am so glad it was sunny, warm and windy today. The primer dried almost immediatley and I was able to get 2 good top coats on it. Went back to the garage and cleaned the gasket and mounting surface. Checked the cover outside and it was dry, not tacky, dry! I put that bad boy on and called the Wife out, I was ready! I had her turn the motor over while I shot my timing light and got it set. She said the oil pressure went up to 40 while it was turning over. I primed the pump and bottom end before the head went on. This was it, moment of truth. I gave her the go ahead to crank it again, a couple pumps on the carb and vroooom, it fired up! I throttled it up to 2,000 rpm and wedged a shim in the throttle. It ran good for a while but the temp started climbing. It ran about 10 minutes before it hit 200 and I shut it down. That may not be long enough to break in the cam and seat the rings but it will have to do. Topped off the trans and called it a day. I need a new raditor, I had temp issues with the old motor and it was smaller. Clearly the 250 needs even more flow than I had. I will probably get an aluminum radiator only because they are cheaper than OEM. Anyway, happy happy happy! I still dont have a front clip on it, but tomorrow Im driving it down the road a bit!!!
