Have you ever reflected on a days work and had something not sit right? Something didnt seem right when I checked my valve lash clearance (I think thats what you call it). I only checked the ones for the first step in the process and some had no play while others that should not have, did. I checked all the ones I could get the guage under and they were all the same. Since they are not adjustable, I felt it safe to assume that they were all ok.

I kept mulling over why the wrong valves had clearance and went back to garage. I rotated the motor one revolution. If things were right, #1 should be on its power and exhaust stroke. I had my finger in the plug hole as the piston came up.....compression, dangit! Now Im thinking, how the heck did that happen and it hit me. While priming the oil pump I rotated the motor ONE revolution and stopped. Bottom line, my dizzy is in 180 degrees out, doh! At least I caught it now and not the day I turned the key. That would have been months from now and I wouldnt have a clue what was wrong! I will be able to sleep tonight.

It will probably burn thru that. Best to get a carb plate off an early six cylinder with no EGR.

    Amazing. Very nice Don.
I think I see a difference in the PS bracket..? That one on the floor looks like it would tuck the pump closer to the block..

If your looking at the one Ithink you are, then thats the one off the 200. It wont work on a 250 but yes, it hugs the block closer.

I used the old one to make sure I had everything right. The new one is on order from Rock Auto and ships on Monday.

No pics today but did a few things today. Stripped and painted the lower section of the air cleaner. The top was done this Fall, I tookit to Jack Roush day and got him to sign it. I also pulled the exhaust mainfold off the 200 and hit it with the wire wheel. It needs a quick shot of high temp paint, havent decided on color. Might do white again, it held up real good. I painted up the rear engine hook/kick down linkage bracket. What do ya know, there is a difference in the 200 nd 250. Its now clear that I dont have the right carb. The kickdown stop misses the carb completely. Oh and I rotated the dizzy and fixed a couple plug wires. I will post up pics tomorrow. Will be done with it Wednesday or Thursday when the water pump gets here.

Don - I watched PowerNation today on the 300 build and was suprised to here them say they wud'nt/did'nt put the engine on a stand for fear of it tipping over, cuz of it's length.
I see u have ur 250 on a stand - Did u have any issues w/ that? I am assuming not?
